Walking with the villages, not past them.
A hiking group can pass through a village a hundred times and leave nothing behind but footprints and rubbish. We would rather leave lunch money.
Village Partners is the least visible thing we do and possibly the most useful. It is mostly logistics: choosing the guesthouse over the hotel, the village kitchen over the catering order, the local guide over the one who drove up with us.
Lunch is the project
It sounds too simple to be an initiative. But forty people eating in a village kitchen once a month is a real income line, and it is the difference between being welcomed and being tolerated.
Objectives
- Book local guesthouses and kitchens wherever a route allows
- Hire local guides on their own terrain
- Publish where a trip's money went
